2016.06.09 Cancun Mexico: Thursday 9th June 2016 the FIS Council has elected the Organisers of the 2021 FIS Freestyle & Snowboard, Nordic and Alpine events as well as for the 2020 FIS Ski Flying World Championships.

The final presentations by the five candidates for the 2020/2021 FIS World Championships took place on Tuesday 7th June 2016 with the highly-anticipated decision announced at 19:00 in Cancun Mexico.

Zhangjiakou/Genting Resort of China was unanimously elected as host of the FIS Freestyle Ski & Snowboard World Championships 2021. The resort will also host the 2022 Olympic Winter Games Freestyle and Snowboarding competitions, making the election very timely.

“I can’t think of a more appropriate host for the 2021 Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding World Championships,” said FIS President Gian Franco Kasper.  “Ideally, the World Championships will serve as the final test event for the Olympics, giving the Organisers the best possible experience to prepare for the Games. It is also one of the key developing regions for Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard, making it a perfect fit to develop and promote the sports strongly over the next five years.”
