2016.04.01 Hokkaido: The 1st General Assessment in 2016 by the Ski Association of Hong Kong, China (namely SA-HK) was held in Rusutsu Resort (http://en.rusutsu.co.jp/zh/) in Hokkaido, Japan on March 30-31. There were 3 participants in Snowboard and 5 participants in Downhill Ski. SA-HK employed the best coaching team in the area together with an official Technical Director to run this assessment. The first day and a half was all technical advices followed by the assessment test in the afternoon of the second day. Eventually 7 SA-HK members passed the assessment and most of them will be invited to join the 2016-17 Hong Kong Ski Team.
According to Mr. Edmond Yue, Chairman of SA-HK, many more members of the Hong Kong Ski Team will be selected through similar General Assessment events in the near future. SA-HK hopes to recruit more young skiers to compete in international events and hopefully win some medals for Hong Kong. Some of them will be invited as ski ambassadors so that they could promote the sport of skiing in their respective schools and as a result more young and upcoming skiers will be able to pickup their spots at the Hong Kong Ski Team.
The next General Assessment event will be held tentatively in August in New Zealand. Since it is summer holiday for many young skiers, SA-HK could assume many more participants will join this event. Any skier could become an Associate Member of SA-HK and then they will be informed of events associated with SA-HK. Application form could be downloaded from www.sa-hk.com and any application fee is waived.
