The 12th National Winter Games, held every four years, is the largest winter multi-sports event of the highest standard in the country.  This year it was held in Jilin.  The aim of these games to train sports talents and enhance the standard of winter sports in China.

Camilla Weiner-Trapness is the first ever-alpine skier from HK to compete in the National Winter Games in the Slalom and Combined and Giant Slalom events.  Camilla, who is only fifteen, had a great run on Combined and ranked No. 6 amongst the Chinese best athletes.  So far, this is the best result at the National Winter Games for any Hong Kong athlete.

On the first day of competitions Camilla’s result did not meet her expectations as she was unfamiliar with the arena and the pace of the game.  The second day of competitions, Camilla produced much better result as she was acclimatized.  In the first run of the Combined, Camilla finished with an astounding 55.17seconds for the Giant slalom.  Camilla attacked the second run to finish with a 59.83 second, thus boosting her ranking from 12th to 6th place overall.  Results from the Combined event gave the Hong Kong team much confidence for the result of the games.  Camilla attained 5th place in the Giant Slalom competing against the best Chinese athletes.
