44th International Ski Federation Congress

Miami, USA, 30th May to 5th June 2004 The 44th International Ski Congress (ISC), organized by the Federation of International Ski (FIS) was held from the 30th of May to 5th of June, 2004 in Miami, Florida, USA.  The Asian Ski Federation (ASF) also held its General Assembly during the same time. This was the first time Hong Kong was represented at the FIS and ASF General Assembly’s.  This was a historical moment for Hong Kong as we were officially accepted as an Associate Member by the FIS and as a Full Member by the Asian Ski Federation.  Upon arriving at the congress, Hong Kong’s delegation was truly honored to have met up personally with Chairman of the Federation of International Ski, Mr. Gian Franco Kasper as well as Chairman of the Asian Ski Federation, Dr. Sung Won Lee.

During our three days of conferences in Miami, the Hong Kong delegation participated in the FIS and ASF General Assembly’s.  To have met so many individuals with such passion for the sport of Skiing was great, and allowed our delegation to become more motivated to promote the sport of Skiing in Hong Kong.  Moreover, the Hong Kong delegation attended workshops on recent developments on anti-doping issues and ways to help children to develop into professional Skiers.  These workshops provided a good avenue for discussion among the different delegations and a lot of sharing of ideas to promote the sport of Skiing.
