SAHK kickstarts new discipline with attendance at FIS Roller Ski Asian Championships

30.09-07.10.2026 SAHK attends the FIS Roller Ski Asian Championships in Phetchaburi, Thailand marking the beginning of a new discipline for Hong Kong ski athletes.

SAHK athlete Matthew LEE represented Hong Kong, China as the region’s first roller ski athlete, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Hong Kong Ski and Snowboard. LEE went into the event only having done skiing on snow. The incredible organisation from Ski and Snowboard Association of Thailand provided the necessary equipment and training to guide athletes through the transition from snow to road skiing. Following the introduction to the sport, LEE competed in the FIS Roller Ski Asian Championships ushering Hong Kong, China into a new era of sports.

SAHK Secretary General Mr. Samson Siu and General Manager Ms. Abril Kwok were also in attendance to support our athlete, observe the championships and speak to fellow Asian Ski Nations to discuss further opportunities for development in this discipline.
SAHK congratulates the Ski and Snowboard Association of Thailand for their hard work and stellar organisation of this event, and their longstanding commitment to the development of roller skiing in the Asian region. We hope to continue collaborating with fellow Asian Ski Nations to learn, explore and expand this growing sport, to eventually send more HKG athletes to the Winter Olympics in a new discipline.
